Hi everyone,

I downloaded and installed ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386 via usb onto my netbook (toshiba nb205). Once the installation completed it had asked me to restart the netbook, as I did. Once it restarted however it would not boot and instead sent me into a command line interface with the following...

Gave up waiting for the root device. Common problems:
-Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
-Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
-Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
-Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; Is /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/b31de020-b919-402e-b6f2-8a29c1c81dab does not exist.
Dropping to a shell!

BusyBox v1.15.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.15.3-1ubuntu5) built-in shell (ash)

...not sure what to make of this. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to this kind of stuff. So it would be helpful to respond in simpler terms. THANKS AND HELP!!
