I installed Linux Mint on friends computer, & I desperately need it to automatically download & install updates. Please don't tell me the dangers of auto updating, I've been using Ubuntu for quite a few years now with never, ever a problem with updates (I'm not flaming, just telling you my experience).

I followed these directions:
http://ihaveapc.com/2011/03/how-to-auto-update-software-packages-in-linux-mint-ubuntu/
But it still is showing the blue icon only informing me updates are available:

The reason I'm want to auto download & install is because like every other average computer user, her brain is like a turnip when it comes to computers (no offense to anybody or my friend), & sometimes I don't see her for a year or so.

Is there an easy way to automatically download & install updates in Linux Mint??
