View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can anyone install package "nsd3" on 10.04.2?

Package nsd3 looks like it is totally fubar. It worked OK in 9.10. But in 10.04.2 it gets really fouled up. It won't finish the install because it needs /etc/nsd3/nsd.conf which it does not provide. It does provide /etc/nsd3/nsd.conf.sample but that's not good enough. Once the install is attempted, it won't finish, and it cannot be uninstalled.

I'd also like to know why tools like dpkg, aptitude and apt-get cannot uninstall a package that is only partially installed. They should know what files are put in, and take them out.

Edit: here is a log on a freshly booted LiveCD (thus very clean) system (sources.list updated to find the package):
