Hello,

I want to customize the Ubuntu Live Cd, and i would like to use the standard menu for Try Ubuntu | Install Ubuntu, not the graphical one, which looks like ubiquity... I wan't the one where you navigate with arrow keys and there's ubuntu logo above the options... It's the one that Ubuntu Server uses, and Debian... Can you please explain what do I have to customize to disable the GUI window? Do i have to uninstall something or perhaps change some GRUB options?

Thanks in advance!!!

PS: Sorry for puting the urgent tag, but i really need this done, i will go crazy trying :)

Why don't you just use the Ubuntu alternate install CD? It is a text based, install only CD. It is very similar to a Debian install CD. It will install the very same Ubuntu system that the graphical live CD installs.

If you want to install Ubuntu without a graphical desktop, you can also do that from the alternate install CD. Just select "command line system" (or whatever it says exactly).

Write back if you need more help.

I will look into that, thank you!

EDIT: But i don't want the text installer, just the classic greeter window, and when you select Install, it gives you ubiquity.

You know you can display the boot options menu if you press any key as soon as the new gui (stick man + keyboard) appears. You do have to be quick because you have about 3 seconds.

I tried to quash that early on:

But I lost that battle :)

I know about the keys, but i want it to be default :) How can new Ubuntu users know about that key combo?

I'm sorry you lost that battle, i totally support it...

Best regards
