Hi, to change the flavor I recently installed Macbuntu theme but I noticed the top menu isn't acting right. To specify the problem, I have been playing around experimenting different things. At certain point I uninstalled Macbuntu and installed regular Global Menu script from Macbuntu's sourceforge download page (you get a download link to download Global Menu on Macbuntu's sourceforge page). Then discovered that it's really a problem with my top menu. As soon as I install something, be it global menu or Macbuntu, its layout goes wrong. See the image below:

Just for your information, that little ubuntu logo is supposed to be sitting at the very left of the bar. Clicking on it opens up Applications, Internet, etc menus and sub-menus.

I want to know how do I get it fixed? I need global menu because I'm making my computer look like mac. Plus, when I install macbuntu, even without the global menu, the top bar acts like this.

I'm using Ubuntu Maverick.

Have you tried locking the menu bar applet to the panel . That is the only thing I can think of . I installed the global menu PPA yesterday to try it for a week but that PPA has nothing to do with Macbuntu . Mine looks different because I have it set to drop down instead of expand across the panel.

Whoa! That is gorgeous! How did you do that? I love the font.

One more question, how do you upload attachments to ubuntuforums.org? I wanted to do it but couldn't find any option to upload attachments.

To upload attachments go to below the reply window and select manage attachments and migrate to the directory where the attachment is stored and open. I am not using the menu bar but the Gnomenu , which allows me to choose different menu buttons and menus . The drop down menu option is in the global menu preferences .

further to this, it will be better to first remove everything from top panel and keep it clean without any apps. follow this order of installing applets..
a) top left > main menu, then lock it to panel
b) top right > search / notifier / indicator (the sequence from left to right as you wish to) and lock all the applets by right clicking.
c) lastly, right click on the top left area of panel from where u wish to start ur global menu and add global menu applet. by default it will use the remaining space in the panel on expandable mode. keep it as such. if its not then make it expandable (else the area will be shrunk and you cant read menu items clearly for some long named apps to be displayed (example, FILE MANAGER will look like FILE M)
then lock this app to panel by right clicking.

NOTE THIS. keep some small gap between top left main menu and the global menu applet. coz in future if u want to access panel properties by right clicking then you may not find it easy, hence this small gap will help u access the right clicking function with ease....
