It would require one of the versions of libdvdcss I take it?

Can you set the size of the .vob file, or does it just rip the vobs & combine them into one?

What happens if there exists more than one feature on the DVD, how do you differentiate, or choose to take them all separately, or combined for that matter?

Is there a way of handling subtitles, or do you just download them from elsewhere & handle them with VLC?

[edit:] The answers can be found here:

I ripped most of my dvd collection using vobcopy, there were a few it wouldn't rip, so I used Handbrake at the highest quality setting for those, even though the quality isn't as good as vobcopy. I use XBMC for playback on my media center system, and vlc on my netbook.

I just noticed that the current version is 11.10.2008 .

So it looks like development finished then.

HandBrakeCLI satisfies my needs.

K9 copy does it for me....

But I was never that impressed with VLC, even though I know that there are folks that swear by it.

That's because unlike other media players, VLC installs a bunch of codecs if you install VLC itself. This makes it more *ahem* user-friendly.
