When I click on the "Wubi Installer" on the "Wubi Installer' website - it does not do anything (except to say that the download has
started - but it never does.

When I download the 'Wubi Installer' from CNET - the download finishes - but then this appears
'An error occurred - could not retrieve the required installation file'.

Is there a problem with Wubi or with Ubuntu??
If so - will it be fixed soon? I hope so - because
I like Ubuntu (I had it before) - but - I am only
comfortable with the Wubi Installer.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Sounds like it may be a site problem try again later . The Wubi installer is a small download so check your download folder . Wubi opens the torrent for the Ubuntu download. If you download the ISO it also includes Wubi , then you will have a disk to run as a live cd , install with Wubi or if you like Ubuntu install it.

The windows installer from http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/windows-installer works (just checked it again) so it is likely a site problem as Frogs Hair mentioned.

The one on CNET is probably the wrong release (wubi is release sensitve). When you run it, if it says 10.04 or 10.04.1 (top, centre) then it won't work.
Actually the wubi.exe on http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ won't work either (that's 10.04.1)

See the wubiguide (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide#How do I install Wubi on a machine with no Internet connection?) for more info
