While trying to download Ubuntu on my brother's computer, the install process at the bottom stalled.

When I opened the window, the command line says:

ubuntu kernel [ 2156.828105] intel ips 0000:00lf.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded

What can I do about this? the install has completely stalled out. After testing Ubuntu from disc I decided to wipe out his windows install with this. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Right now the computer is just sitting idly at the install screen where you tell it who you are, ie - name, computer name, username & PW etc.

Why do you download Ubuntu while installing it? It doesn't make any sense.:-)

:(

Sorry, I have it downloaded and burned to a disc. I meant I'm trying to install it.

I am nervous about this so I was typing quickly, sorry for the mistake.

So, I guess no one is answering because this isn't a quick fix?

I can go back to windows but I thought it would be good bring him up on a more user-oriented OS

Does anyone have a suggestion for a different release to possibly not get that error? I really wanted to set my brother up nicely.
