I just read this story. Looks like the latest version of Wine is making it possible to play WoW under Linux. Has anyone here tried this out yet using Hoary? I thought I might give it a shot this weekend.

I'm new to all of this and haven't really used Wine. If I already have WoW installed in a Windows partition do I need to install it under Linux or can I just run 'wine [path to wow .exe] --opengl' ? It isn't horrible to reboot the computer in order to play WoW but it would be nice to just be able to launch and play the game from within Ubuntu.

Yeah, I realized that Cedega supports it but I haven't had much need to go that route. At this point Linux doesn't seem like a particularly good gaming platform. Which is too bad, I think it could be but it needs more native high-quality games. I just thought that using wine might save me the trouble of rebooting. Most likely I'll just continue to reboot if I want to play the game at this stage.
