Assuming we are all using ubuntu, how should we call ourselves ?
Ubuntist, Ubuntuist, Ubuntizaed, Ubunti, ... ?
Is there some african word that identifies a woman or man that follows the "humanity to others" philosophy ?
In sicilian dialect I would use ubuttizzatu.

Any proposal/idea ?

PS. I cannot imagine how the users of RR4/RR64 call themselves.

I like Ubunti for us collectively. Individually I like Ubuntuist, similiar to individualist.

The official name for those who have signed the Code of Conduct is Ubuntero (which, btw is a qualificative adjective in the Castillian language, a.k.a. "Spanish", in case you ask).

We should call ourselves Ubuntuers. Although I'd refer to myself as a Linux user or a Linuxer before I'd refer to myself by the name of the specific distro I plan to use.

What are you reffering to? Have a link?
I cannot remember Ubuntero being mentionned in the code of conducts (http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct)... :(

I know it for a fact because I have signed the Code of Conduct (https://launchpad.net/people/palopezv). Look at the small box down at the left of my profile at Launchpad.

Yeah, that is the most logical name for it.

If you use a variant of the word Ubuntu then people will think you are talking about some new Ubuntu based distro.

Yep, I always refer to myself as a Linux User first, using the Ubuntu Distribution.

Err sorry mate I don't mean to question your good will, but I really cannot find the code of conduct you're referring to... There doesn't seem to be a link from the page you provided :(

Anyway, I guess it's not that important, is it? ;)

Ubunticrats.
I like it, sounds greek. A "latin-like" version could be Ubuntarii.

Hahha, you crack me up. That's not question I answered. And google or any other search engine would have answered your implicit question faster. In fact just going to the ubuntu website would have solved your question. (I won't tell you exactly where, show some initiative, matey!)

Anyway, I guess it's not that important, is it? ;)

That's a matter of your interest on belonging to the community (of which these forums are a sideshow, not the main circus ring, btw).

Great! thanks a lot :)

Not finding a link to it was making mad! :twisted:

Edit: You're right, I should have pushed the bloody search a bit further... *blush in shame* :)

Ubuntarii
I like the ring of that one.
Ubuntunites sounds cool too
Human Beings might be the best though, and we will lump our demon's into that category too. They'll just have to deal with it

Why should we call ourselves anything?
Just for fun ?
Just to say "I'm a proud ubuntist/ubuntarius/ubunt<something>.
Or because someday there will be a crosswords game with the question "A user of the Ubuntu GNU/linux distribution". ;)

Just to say "I'm a proud ubuntist/ubuntarius/ubunt<something>.

Do what you like; just don't call me whatever you decide to call yourselves; I'm of the opinion that labels like "drug addict" or "ubuntu user" erase the individuality of the person to whom such labels are applied.

Ubuntard, sounds French.
Perhaps we can have different names for different languages:
english: Ubuntist;
italian/latin: Ubuntario(or Ubuntino)/Ubuntarius;
french: Ubuntards;
spanish: Ubuntero;
russian: Ubuntarskij :-k ;
german: :-k ;
....

For those of you that know Portuguese out there.
How about Ubuntinos? Ou Ubuntinas?
This might sound peculiar in other languages... Like english.
On that language maybe Ubuntians?

I wonder how it's said in the native language of the word. If that is even a word in that language.

If you're a daemon either a 'sudo /etc/init.d/"Stormy Eyes" stop' or a 'sudo killall "Stormy Eyes"' should stop you :p

I agree with you, but calling me ubuntuer would be a bit restrictive.

German: Ubunter (male), Ubunterin (female)
That's going with the standard of adding "er" to the verb to denote someone who does it, and adding "in" to that to denote someone female doing the verb (e.g. Lehrer (teacher, male), and Lehrerin (teacher, female)). Note that it's Ubunter rather than Ubuntuer. Ubuntuer sounds too American English.
