View Full Version : [ubuntu] unsure if i have mounted second hard drive properly

hello, im not sure if this goes here, but im new to Ubuntu, and tho i have been using computers for many years, ive only just started doing anything with them.

i currently have ubuntu 10.04 and have to the best of my knowledge installed and mounted a second hard drive to home/harddrive2/

but i dont think it has worked properly, any ideas?

Welcome to Ubuntu and the forums :-)

How did you mount your 2nd HDD? What is the filesystem on it? If you open nautilus, can you find your partition under /home/harddrive2?

If the drive is formatted ext3/ext4, you need to chown it in order to gain write privileges. And for permanent mounting, see here.

im probably going to show my beginnerness by asking what nautilus is haha.
it is ext3 as i was informed to set it to with some guide i followed, dont think i did that chown thing tho
