I am having problems with my Ubuntu system and i think I need to reinstall the core files. I am having problems that I cannot seam to fix related to accessing my websites, login into Mysql and my php does not seam to work at all. So I am restarting all over again.

Is there a way I can reinstall Ubuntu without having to format the drive or delete my websites and msql database?

Or is it just better to back up the MYSQL database and Home directory and format the drive.

Any advice would be helpful.

Yes.

You don't need to format the drive manually. It is done automatically when you install the new system.

When installing you could make a special partition for /home. This will make future reinstalls easier.
