Is there an idiots guide anywhere for installing LAMP & Wordpress in a Linux GUI environment.
I just need a development enviroment which is visible on the Internet for fellow club members.
Currently our website is built in Frontpage and hosted on a Windows Server.
Need to build a new Wordpress website on a development environment for testing before we go live on Linux.
All the documentation I have seen is around building a web server using command line. Having used a Windows GUI interface for quite a few decades I'm a bit reluctant to contemplate that.
I have installed Ubuntu 10.10, Apache, MySQL and PHP on my laptop, dual boot with Windows Vista. And got the local test working OK.
But how do I take the next steps:
- Install Wordpress
- Expose Server to the outside world
- Deal with security issues
- Other considerations?
