Install issues

Im trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on an old desktop with the following specs

amd sempron 3000+ 512mb ram and 120gb hdd

and it "hangs" and says something like 'ready when you are...' above the progress bar and wont let me press the next button to continue the installation after finishing the information for the user account I want to create any ideas on how to fix this?
