I am tryiing out ubuntu on my notebook (gentoo on desktop) as i have heard good things about it and the community support, so far i have made 3 posts of which only one has had a reply.
Is this usual or is the comminity support not as good as claimed?

Hmm ... I guess most of us also have a job and sometimes we even sleep ... that's why there are threads that get no reply ;)
From what I understood in your text, you are looking for k3b and have installed it, but you do not find it in your menus?

Thanks for reply, no not about k3b but as thread title says knowit and tuxcards, yes i have k3b installed which means i can install kde stuff.
Knowit is a kde app but tuxcards is gtk, nether of which are can find in repositories.
Is this because i am using hoary and not warty?
can't believe that a distribution would not have either of these apps!

I can't offer you any help, but I too was looking to get knowit to work in ubuntu, and couldn't find it.
Pity, since it, or something like it, is a very useful thing indeed.
It was suggested to me that I could build it from source.
Good luck with it!

Hello, i found a deb file for knowit but got lot dependency issues when trying to install.
There is deb file for tuxcards which install ok but does not appear in menu.
Think tuxcards is better.
Quite liking ubuntu as a quick install distrib and will use it for helping to convert others to linux, but if this is typical of level of package selection i will probably go back to gentoo when i get time for install :) worth it once install is over.

Hi
tuxcards installs fine on Hoary using the deb from the home page. Then edit menu - program location is as default '/usr/local/bin/tuxcards'
Best Wishes
