Hi - total Linux n00b here - but I finally made the move and absolutely love it.

Ok. I installed my first Linux about a month ago and have been getting used to it (Ubuntu, of course).

I have some folders with 'a lot' of files in them and it is taking a very long time to open / display the contents of the folders.

I was thinking that if the mini-icons in 'list view' were disabled somehow then that should speed up the process a little.

I have looked for settings that may permit disabling icons in list view but have been unable to find something.

Is there a way to disable the mini-icons in list view on Ubuntu Linux? is that an option?

Thanks everyone.

Does anyone have a solution / answer for this?
Thanks.

You can change that with the view mode button on the file browser . If it is not visible on the tool bar of the file browser , right click the tool bar > customize and add it . I don't know if it will make things faster or not.

In View there's 3 options:
List view, Compact and Icon.
If I select "List view" it still displays icons - albeit small ones.
Those small icons on the left side are the ones (under List view) that I don't want to have show at all.
Is there a method to completely not show any icons under the List view option?
That's what I'm hoping to find.
Thanks.

I have not looked for that before . If you are interested in viewing the content of folders without opening them , take a look at the links.
