View Full Version : [SOLVED] Think I've broken an Association setting..

Hey guys,

Made a little screw-up the night before last, tried to open a file from Ktorrent (Which I'm using instead of Transmission due to dozens & dozens of crashes - the only part of my new Linux/Ubuntu installation I didn't fallen in love with, much happier and more stable with KTorrent now :) )

And got a pop-up prompt asking which program I would like to open with.

In my hazy 2am state I clicked VLC without thinking, and now when I go Places>Home, Desktop, Documents, Music , Pictures , Videos downloads , Or my Hard drive I'm getting a VLC window pop up with the file in question. #-o

Still getting by as Computer is working fine, but it's a tad inconvenient!:lolflag:

Could someone point me in the direction to undo this change?

(Background in Comp-Sci, but still pretty new to ubuntu :)

Cheers guys.

Hi and Welcome.

1. right click desktop

3. right click on the folder
4. select open with another application
5. select file browser from the list
6. select open
7. test the places menu
This will reset the defualt applicaion for opening folders , you can remove the folder when finished.
