Hello , I just came across this by accident and wanted to know if it would be worth my time to download it and try to use it or is it a waste of time.

Is there a need for such a program in Ubuntu ?

You COULD get it...
It would probably not help much though. Linux viruses are rare, and the best Linux antivirus is ClamAV.

Yes and no.

Ubuntu does not need it, but if you want to scan files you share with family and friends that are using Windows and are poor in keeping their Windows safe, it might be a nice gesture from your side :)

Mostly these AV's are installed in the linux environment only if those machines are in networked with stupid winnie machines. Could be for a simple mail servicing or file services or etc.

There's no need for it unless you run services (like mail or web) on your system, or you're part of a network with Win machines attached. If you don't, don't bother with something that's not going to be of any use to your OS. And Win users should protect their own systems, it's not for Linux users to filter their emails etc.
