Asus UL30A-x5 64-bit Intel Duo Core CPU
Preinstalled with Windows 7 Ultimate

I have a new, unused HDD to use for a Ubuntu installation.

I'm confused about the file to use for Ubuntu.

The name of the file indicates AMD-64.

Is this the right file to use?

I don't see anything else, and don't want to do anything wrong.

Thanks from a nubie - is that correct?

Al

Yes. "AMD64" refers to any x86-64 CPU, since AMD invented the architecture. This is like "i386" or "IA-32" ("i" or "I" meaning "Intel") being correct even for AMD, Cyrix, and other x86 CPUs, since they were just using the architecture invented by Intel.

Then I should understand that the AMD64 is okay to use on my system?

Thanks again.
