Hello everyone,

i'm back on Ubuntu at work and at home and I have a couple of questions regarding the notification area of Ubuntu 10.10

The first one is : clicking on the mail icon shows links to Gwibber, Epiphany and Evolution. The concept is great except that i won't ever use Evolution nor Thunderbird. Is there a way to remove those links or to set up Gmail web mail over there. I believe there is a way to do that using Firefox but I'm on Chromium.

The second one is : Where do I manage the Growl like notification that pop up on the top-right of the screen. I want them to disappear much quicker and replace them at the bottom.

Thank you very much

Update :
ANd BTW the way, I don't why but each time I get notified of a new email on Gmail with Mail Notification, I get redirected to the Dropbox website....

The mail notification is part of the indicator applet and includes your volume indicator . You could remove it and keep the notification area and try Check Gmail from the software center. The current mail notify icon is part of the Evolution Plug-ins Package found in the synaptic package manager.

As far as the notification bubble goes , there are threads related to this but no solutions yet .

To just remove the messages envelope and keep the indicator-applet with the volume-indicator intact, remove the package "indicator-messages".

Regarding adjusting the Notify-OSD bubbles, see my earlier post:

It refers to this article: http://maketecheasier.com/easily-customize-notifyosd-ubuntu-lucid/2010/05/26
