The problem was as follows: I installed Maverick and kept my home dir. It was quite some time ago since I played PokerTH and a lot had changed, so it didn't work anymore. I decided to install the version from ppa (0.8.3).
It installed like a charm but didn't work... After some digging I found the problem: It was the .pokerth folder in my home dir, deleted it and it now works again...
