I have downloaded the Ubuntu and i'm trying to open it with VirtualBox, but there is a weird screen.

You are in windows mac or linux? and witch version of ubuntu do you take?

I have VirtualBox 4 (for Windows) and Ubuntu 10.10

You must select the right virtualbox configuration (select linux ubuntu) when you make it. If it doesn't work again, try ubuntu 10.04 because it's a LTS version. You can upgrade it after. If it doesn't work again, you can make a cd and install wubi from windows. This will install ubuntu inside your windows and it's really faster than a virtual machine. It will ask you to choose witch os you want a your boot time.
