View Full Version : [ubuntu] How can I modify the lock screen wallpaper in Maverick?

Hello all, I am looking for information on how to change the wallpaper of the lock screen. Not the lock dialog window but the wallpaper behind it (background).

Just to be clear I'M NOT looking for Lock screen links to Gnome-look.com. I'm trying to figure out what controls the gnome-screensaver locker background. Currently it's grayish in color due to the GTK theme I am using and I'd like to change it, possibly to an image of some sort. I've scoured over the internet many times only to find forum links to gnome-look.com. I read it's controlled by the GDM theme but can't be certain.

I'm a big fan of Mac4Lin and would like to do some modifications.

If anyone can point me in the write direction I would appreciate it.

Maybe this will help. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for.

The ubuntu background wallpaper is in /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png.

Moving any file to that location and change the name to "warty-final-ubuntu.png" will change the image of the login screen.

If you want you can install and try gdm2setup https://launchpad.net/gdm2setup
it lets you change your wallpaper.
ubuntu tweak also lets you do that too.

edit: oops sorry wrong question :/

me too. my login screen and desktop(s) are just the way i want it, but i cannot find a way to change the lock screen. would love to know how to modify both the background and the dialog box, but at this point just the background would be a big step forward. ubuntu 10.04 LTS (lucid) x64.
