Hi All,

I'm a bit of an amateur and would be thankful for some advice!
I'm running 10.10 32 bit and would like to reformat to 10.10 64 bit. However, I am dual booting with windows 7 under grub. I've had some crap experience (my fault) with grub before and would like to make sure I have a plan.

I've downloaded the 10.10 64 bit. Can I simply boot and install 10.10 64 bit without concern of messing up grub? Horror story: Installed ubuntu once before with dual boot and somehow grub couldn't find windows, fixed it somehow...[hence amateur here].

Have you tried the live desktop first, to make sure it works ok with your hardware? Other than that, you should be ok to install over the top of 32 bit using the same partition(s). If you only have one drive grub shouldn't be a problem (unless it installs to the usb flash drive rather than the hard drive, if that's the media you are using).
