Were is the folder of desktop icons?

Two possible places , File System > usr/share/icons or Home folder > Ctrl+H .> Hidden Folders > .icons .

You really have no appreciation for how many icons and picture a computer has until you try to edit them.

So, I go to usr/share/icons and just replace old icons with new ones? Or is there a special folder of the icons in use? What I am basically trying to do it too edit my icons.
