New to Ubuntu 10.10. It's been working great for around 3 weeks. Logged off the other day, logging back in all I have is my desktop image. No toolbar, no icons, right click doesn't work, all I can do is ctrl-alt-del to restart. I have multiple users which is where I am now (secondary). Admin is what is not showing up. Any info would be greatly appreciated as I do not feel like a successful admin.

Thank you. I'm not sure what happened or why I lost everything but this worked after restart (while crossing fingers).

chanceBasically, nautilus crashed (programs do, even in ubuntu) and without it you get no desktop (apart from the wallpaper). You probably had the "save desktop" box clicked so when you logged out the desktop minus the essential nautilus was saved - so when you logged back in you got... nothing but wallpaper.

Don't forget to mark the thread as solved.
