I am about to set up my dual boot system per the replies made to the thread "New installation questions "posted a day ago. Here is the order I take it I should go: Please make any suggested changes or recommendations.

Partition the 80 Gb drive first.
Install Windows XP on its designated partition
Install SP3
upgrade bios through Windows
Install Ubuntu using the wubi.exe program on its designated partition.

I am not sure about wubi.exe. Is it necessary?

Thanks

If you are creating partitions for both Windows and Ubuntu, WUBI is not necessary. In fact, for a long term solution, I wouldn't use it.

With a partitioned HDD, a normal dual boot is the option I would choose.

I agree with Old_Gray_Wolf that a Wubi install is unnecessary in this situation. If you are going to the trouble of preparing the drive like this, why use Wubi?

Here is one of the best dual-boot guides I know of:

Good luck!
