View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installing DVD versions

I saw an interesting distro on Distrowatch, but the *.iso file needed a DVD rather than a CD.

The target computer does not have a DVD player, and doesn't warrant spending any money on it.

Is there a way to break the iso into CD lengths so I can install it? Or some other trick to get it going?

Thanks.

Which distro ?

Chances are that you could use a USB stick.

Fedora. It has a new version dated today.

You can try a USB drive. Unetbootin can do it for you.

Thanks, but the links say that unebootin is good for a "frugal install" or for using a usb keychain drive for live use.

There was nothing that said it could be used for a permanent full install.

Is there a workaround so I can create a full install of a DVD length Linux *.iso without an internal DVD?

Thanks.

You can actually use it for a full install. When you boot the Live USB, you'll find an Install icon on your desktop which will launch the installer.
