I recently lost my partition for my root tree (I of course have no idea how it happened), and have come to the conclusion after several hours of searching that the partition is corrupt.
Now I'm trying to reinstall Ubuntu through this livedisk, and the installed is freezing and crashing after I click next on the screen asking if you'd like to download updates, install third party software, and show connectivity, harddrive space, and whether the computer is plugged in.
I left it running for 45 minutes before I decided it had stopped working, so I closed it and restarted the disk and tried again, to get the same result. Is there any reason why this is happening?
