I installed Lubuntu over the top of a Kubuntu installation, and used udo dpkg-reconfigure kdm to switch to kxdm, however the cursors are still kde style, when I drag a window it brings up the kde cross-arrows, and when I check what is running, kde4 is still loaded. Is there any way of making a complete switch to Lubuntu away from kde?

Hi,
Yes you can. Go to this link to completely remove Kubuntu from your system:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purelxde
The command they provide will remove all of the original Kubuntu programs that came with Kubuntu and then reinstall Lubuntu for safe measures.
