When I try to boot from the Live CD of Ubuntu 10.10, I end up with a whitish corrupt screen, which should be the 'Desktop'. The CD is good and works on other PC's. I have tried two other graphics cards with the same result. It is therefore impossible even to install it. I have installed many other versions without problems. This PC works perfectly with Windows XP\Vista\Windows 7 and other Ubuntu versions. This is doing my head in. Somebody please help.

Sound like it could be driver trouble.

Try using the alternative installer:

I downloaded a new version as suggested. Burnt a new CD. Exactly the same result. It boots to a white screen.
Any further ideas would be welcome, but I am starting get very disenchanted with v10.10
