I've got a box w/ an ATI Radeon 4850HD (RV770) running Maverick, with 2 displays: both connected to the Radeon card.

I would like to add a display; however, 1) the card only supports using 2 of it's 3 interfaces at one time (dvi+hdmi+vga), and 2) the system BIOS does not support the concurrent usage of the onboard graphics chip and a graphics card.

I have a decent nVidia (pci-express) card that I pulled out of another box, is it possible to use one of these cards along with the Radeon?

I can do that with my motherboard. The user guide says so. It shows how to do it. What does the user guide for your motherboard say? Perhaps you can go to the manufacturer's web site and download a user guide?

Regards.

Have you tried Googling: "three monitors" ubuntu solved

I see a lot of complaints, but not many solutions. If I were to try it, I would go with two cards from the same manufacturer. For example:

Thanks Graham; my board specifically states that the onboard card can only be usedif there are not other graphics adapters. Perhaps it uses the same pcie channel or something...
