hi
i want to install ubuntu on my new system and i would like to know what version i have to choose, the 32 or the 64bit

My System
CPU: intel i3 550
Mobo: Gigabyte H55M-UD2H
RAM: Kingston 2GB DDR3 1333MHz
VGA: Gigabyte Radeon HD 5450 1GB
HD1: Western Digital 120GB IDE
HD2: Maxtror 120GB SATA

please help me to choose the right ubuntu verion

You only need 64-bit if you have 4 GB or more of RAM, so you should use 32-bit, i think it's easier

im thinking to add 2 more GB ram

yes helps somehow, there talk about AMD CPUs and i have intel i3


also in the download section the ubuntu 64bit file called ubuntu-10.10-desktop-amd64.iso

is this good for intel cpu too ?

The AMD standard for 64bit was the extension of 32bit. Intel originally wanted a totally new design that then failed, so Intel went back to a version that was compatible with AMD.

Essentially says if you can use the 64bit kernel you should. But 4GB would be better.

Ubuntu 64-bit runs great in 2GB RAM; I ran it that way for quite a while.
