Find process for application window

Hi all,

I'm searching for the way to find the process fir a specific application window (some thing like "Go to process" in Windows Task Manager - is there any way to do that? It's not just about killing the process (xkill sometimes helps), but about finding open files and renice the process, etc...

I'm using Ubuntu nearly two years as main OS but I still do not remember the process names of all applications, I'm not Rainman ;-)
