Installing desktop no hard drive found

hi,

I am trying to install ubuntu 10.10 desktop but for some reason it can not find my ide hard drive.
BIOS shows the ide hard drive.
Not sure why ubuntu install does not.
Please adivse what to do.

I just checked GParted and no devices are there.
