View Full Version : [ubuntu] Black Screen After Install

When i install ubuntu desktop it goes through the installation completely but when it goes to the desktop its self i get sound but no video at all i know the cd is good ive used it multiple times before an this pc used to habve windows before i erased it
heres my specs

I had a similar problem, no video, after an upgrade but no one could help solve it.

When you tested the 'Ubuntu live CD' and took Ubuntu for a test drive on this PC, did the video work OK?
When you loaded Ubuntu, did you have a network connection going and choose 'upload updates' as it installed?
I am trying to figure out why Gnome showed fine on the test drive, but does not after the install. Ummm - You did do a test drive first, right?

This system is using the following motherboard:
ASUS A8N-LA GeForce 6150 LE Socket 939 mATX Motherboard w/Video, Audio & LAN
Are you using the on-board video? (I am guessing you are)
How much RAM is installed?

from the boot line, remove "quiet splash" to let you know what happen when booting, then ctrl+x to boot

hold "shift" key down at end of bios process to see the grub menu, then edit the boot line, ...

ok i was usin the amd64 cd before now im burning the regular one to c if it works

so i test ran it on the live cd an i got black screened again i think it mgiht be the graphics
