Hello there!

I have installed Texlive 4 times and when I try to compile a pdf with texworks I always get the same message:

kpathsea: Running mktexfmt pdflatex.fmt
I can't find the format file `pdflatex.fmt'!

Why is this happening.???

I've installed both manually and through the repositories but still nothing.

Any idea why is this happening?

Thanks

I never succeeded with TeXLive 2009 but I've successfully installed 2010 three times now. See this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1519194) in which I sought advice for the same problem, in particular my final post with its semi-work-around. The instructions are the same for installing the full release as for the test (although I had to use sudo), and don't forget to set the PATH.
