conky code to record internet traffic?

Mine's much simpler than yours and will look very different, but it may give you a clue about editing your network text.

EDIT: Just a thought; have you got the eth0 correct? Depending on your setup it may be wlan0 like mine if wireless, or eth1. Right click on your network manager or choose edit connections to see what is active, and use
ifconfig to find it

thank u, feel like an idiot but it has eth0, but I was using eth1,
so changed that and now it's working fine.
Your code is much better then I had, so I'm using that
But I think it's only displaying how much I've downloaded since I've booted up, 52MB, which is way way to small, how can I get it to remember how much has been downloaded since my ISP reset on the 3rd of this month?
Is that to complex for conky?

It may be possible to get conky to display the output of vnstat, if you have it installed, but I've never tried it. Have a look at man vnstat, and you'll see there are a number of different output layouts you can choose, for days, weeks, months, etc etc. It is very useful, but as for conky displaying it, I haven't a clue.

If you have only just installed vnstat you will need to let it make a database before it will give any output. This is explained when you run vnstat the first time, so try
vnstat in terminal and then wait a while for anything to show. Use
vnstat -u -i eth0changing the eth0 to whatever you use. I can't remember if sudo is needed for that command, but think it is. Try without first, then with sudo if needed.

eth0: Not enough data available yet.
But my Router is using eth1
tried
vnstat eth1 and that didn't work


and when I typed
vnstat -u -i eth1
I got back
Error: Unable to read database "/var/lib/vnstat/eth1".
Error: Unable to write database "/var/lib/vnstat/eth1".

so yeah that must be where it's going wrong, cause I copied and pasted that code u had for your .conkyrc file and it displayed no stats next to today, week, month.

sudo vnstat -u -i eth1

I don't think you'll see anything until your data reaches 1mb.

It's now created a database for eht1 and that's all you have to do.
To view the data enter vnstat in the terminal.

Yes, just run
vnstat -r I think it may need sudo to run as root, but I have never done it, so I'm not sure. If necessary you could set a cron job to do this once a month.

i was looking for tweaking my conky and i found this .
i copied the code and executed it too... is there an option for weatherforecast ? in my prev code, i had it. it is running fine when on direct internet connection, but in office i am connected thru proxy and weatherforecast part says no internet !
any idea to incorporate that into your code ?

another funny display...
in the cpu section, i am usinf a C2D 2267 MHZ, its displaying 800 MHZ, however i notice that the display jumps between 800 and 2267 (the screen shot captured says its 800 !!) is that due to a bug or something else is wrong ?
