I was changing my GUI settings in XFCE in my root user account on Xubuntu when suddenly I was logged out and the computer shut down.

(I have done this before with no such trouble...)

Now I can't log into my root account all I get is a blank screen for a few seconds then I'm back at the log-in screen, the other account works fine.

Any ideas??!

(This is on my Xubuntu 10.10 laptop BTW...)

I thought it was a feature of Ubuntu that you can't logon with the root account? And that the preferred method is: logon as normal user, elevate yourself with 'sudo' or 'gksudo' followed by the command you want to run.

Sorry, I meant to say my main user account. :)

It's sorted now, I logged in using LXDE instead and everything is fine... :lolflag:
