Transparency issues

So I actually had achieved true transparency by following up to step 4 of this tutorial

But now it's gone away, and I don't know what to do.. i don't seem to have the file mentioned, which is why I never continued. I had given up but then noticed that somehow it had been applied..

so what do i do to get it back?

I have not used the method in your link , but to make the Gnome terminal transparent no packages are required . Terminal > Edit > Profile Preferences > Background you will also find other useful settings there. Welcome to the forums.
