i've devolved (some would say evolved) myself of anything relating to microsoft - i run open source software for just about everything - GIMP, Thunderbird, Firefox, Apache, MySql, PHP, OPen Office,AVG, Sunbird, MozBackup, Filezilla - all on windows - yeh i know......

i really want to go completely open source so what does ubuntu have to offer?

i'm on the edge and need a reason to jump - hope the water is fine.

Because it`s all set up for you. You just install it and everything is already there.

Because it`s all set up for you. You just install it and everything is already there.

And pretty much everything you need is in the Software center too.

Well, it is stable, updated, supported, and it is all set up for you. Although, you can customise and change it freely, geek or not. Try a Live CD, then you can see what you think.

Please read the many threads that are the same as this in recurring discussions.

As this is not a support thread I'm moving it to recurring discussions - you'll be able to pick up the discussion when recurring is reopened.
