How to install vlc 1.1.7 in Xubuntu 10.10?

I recently installed Xubuntu 10.10 in my old computer. It works really great. I found out that the version of VLC media player becomes 1.1.7 while my computer only has 1.1.4. I updated using the update manager & Ubuntu Tweak, but they both describe that the software is up-to-date. How do I install the latest version of VLC media player on my Xubuntu? I have already tried the

% sudo apt-get update
% sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc
shown in VLC website. But it is no use.

You will have to add ppa to your source list.Read this. (https://launchpad.net/~n-muench/+archive/vlc)
