I have a MacbookPro MA895 and I have create a 10GB freespace for ubuntu with Disk Utility. The rEFIt is installed and working normally. The Windows 7 x64 and Snow Leopard is installed on the computer.

I download the newest ubuntu-10.10-dvd-amd64.iso, the alternative DVD. Burn it to a blank DVD-RW, and use rEFIt to boot from the DVD when problems shows up.

If I choose "Boot Linux from CD", there are only some text like

"1.
2.
Select CD-ROM Boot Type: "

And I can do nothing to make it continue but to power off the computer.

If I choose "EFI Boot", the GRUB boot menu shows up, but when I select any option related to installing or booting ubuntu.

There are only some error message like "kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)......." on the screen and I have to reboot manually again.

Can anyone help me to get ubuntu x64 installed?

thanks!
