Just an idea here.

Wouldn't it be nice, if we had a choise to fix and tweak grub settings by booting the Ubuntu install cd/dvd/media?

I think i'm not the only one constantly installing multiboot environments. And sometimes i install a greedy OS on the side afterwards (this time xp) that takes over the MBR.

Well i know i need to boot to U-live and do some tinkering to get the grub back on boot, but not everyone knows how to do this.

So my suggestion is an option to boot to grub recovery with some intelligence to scan current OS's on the system and let you decide which ones to bring to grub and where to install it.

Just my 2 cents.

Nice idea, but I think the live CD is already bursting at the seams.

Perhaps a simple text or readme file would suffice.
