Evolution is presenting many incoming email messages as double-spaced when they weren't written that way. The unwanted double-spacing is also retained in replies, which show the original messages as having repeated carriage returns.
How can this be prevented so that Evolution renders the messages as they were written?
Thanks.

Surely I can't be only person to have this problem?

To test it further I looked at the emails on an IMAP server using several email clients, including evolution, seamonkey, thunderbird, opera, and a webmail facility. In every view except evolution the emails appeared perfectly - only in evolution do they acquire the double carriage returns giving twice the space between paragraphs. This spacing is carried forward to replies so it is a real nuisance.

I suppose the obvious answer is to use one of the other email clients instead, but I like the evolution syncing with my Palm and would prefer to stay with it - if only I can solve this problem. Any ideas?
