Hy i recently bought a asus k52JC laptop and it has an nvidia optimius card. I know about all the problems with the drivers but i did find this fix :

http://linux-hybrid-graphics.blogspot.com/

However i can't use this fix since every time i install ubuntu i get a screen full of text and a total freeze of the system. I do have an option in the bios related to the video card that when it's enabled i can access the shell but not for long since after a while the screen goes blank.
Though i did get ubuntu running in VirtualBox in low graphics mode this was ubuntu 10.10, i couldn't install natty however.

Please help i've been using ubuntu for years and now i'm so sad that i'm stuck with windooze.

Such a pity.

Hi

i get a screen full of text and a total freeze of the system

Your freeze happens when installing ? What about trying to install from the alternate CD ?

http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.10/

Kind regards

No i have a BIOS option to let Windows7/Vista handle the card or to set it to reserved . When this option is set to reserved i can install ubuntu and after the install i get the shell otherwise i just get the text and freeze.
And no the alternate install CD dosen't fix this
