View Full Version : [ubuntu] Restricted Driver Manager says "No restricted drivers needed"

Just tried to upgrade a 2-year-plus stable 7.04 to 10.04. After upgrade process completed, system hung on boot about 80% of the time and i couldn't figure out how to fix it (although it seems a common problem...) and decided to try a fresh re-installation of 7.04.

Newly installed 7.04 has desktop effects disabled. If enabled, screen turns white as i have not yet installed restricted drivers for my two nVidia cards.

But when i start Restricted Driver Manager, i'm told that i have no hardware that requires restricted drivers.

Is this because support has been discontinued for 7.04? Posts i've read so far usually end by blaming hardware, but everything was fine before the failed 10.04 upgrade.

Thanks for any replies.
