View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu + Software Raid + Large Storage

I am currently in the process of digitizing all of my media and putting my DVD's, CD's etc. into storage. As a result I require an excessively large storage setup and I also want this to be quite safe and therefor constantly backed up.

Ideally, this is the setup I am going for:
- 12TB of storage, 6 x 2TB WD Drives
- With 6TB of actual storage, using software mirrored RAID

What I am not too sure on is the following:
- How is Ubuntu likely to react to having 12 TB plugged into the mainboard?
- Is it particularly hard to set up software raid in this fashion?
- Can I have these drives simply represent as a single partition somehow?

Any help in these matters would be terrific, even if it's just links to tutorials as I am finding it hard to find the right tutorials.
