so i got this laptop from a friend and im going to be using it to play around with ubuntu, so ive been trying to uninstall it from my desktop that is set to dual boot, every time i uninstall it, weither its installing windows over it or deleting the partition and repairing the windows boot files i continue to get an error on load up saying "error: no such partition." then the line under it shows "grub rescue>". its an acer aspire am5100-u5301a desktop, any help would be greatly appreciated

So your problems is the removal of Ubuntu from the acer desktop and having the windows boot, correct me if I'm wrong here and do this. You also describe reinstalling windows, so mention how and what media you have to do this with.

So from a booted live Ubuntu cd or thumbdrive lets see the bootscript read out; in my signature just click on it and follow the instructions. Come back to the thread and click on the (#) in the reply panel this makes code tags paste all the text in between.
