After deliberating for quite a while I have finally taken the plunge and installed 10.10, before this I was running on 9.10 and quite happy. As of this morning I am now running on 10.10 and very happy. I am pleased to say it was a very smooth installation and other than reinstalling a few packages after the main install and the huge amount of system updates that have appeared I have had no problems.

For info: I am running an old Fujitsu Siemens E8010D Lifebook. Intel Pentium Processor (1.6Ghz) and have just 512Mb RAM installed. Intel 82582/855GM integrated graphics and an Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 wireless LAN card.

Now looking forward to July when I might get round to taking a peek at 11.04.

Glad you're happy. Sorry about the Intel graphics. If you buy a 1G stick of ddr1 memory, it would help with performance greatly

I agree that some extra RAM would improve performance. The Intel graphics was the reason I skipped on 10.04. Overall though, for an old laptop, I can't fault performance. Much better than when the laptop had XP installed.
